BakeryFind ("we", "us") recognises the importance of protecting your personal information. We are committed to complying with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs). This policy details how we handle your data.

2. Collection of Information

We collect specific data to operate our platform effectively:

Voluntary Information:

Name, email address, business details, and billing information (processed securely via Stripe) when you register for "Partner Access" or a "Voter Profile".

Usage Data:

Information about how you use the site, including search queries (e.g. "sourdough", "croissants"), page views, and interaction timestamps.

Technical Data:

IP address, browser type, and device identifiers collected via cookies and analytics tools (including Google Analytics).

Third-Party Data:

We aggregate public business data via the Google Places API. If you claim a listing, we link this public data to your verified account.

3. Use of Information

We use your information for the following purposes:

  • /Service Provision: To display relevant search results and manage your bakery profile.
  • /Integrity: To validate "Golden Crust Awards" votes and prevent fraud (e.g. checking IP addresses for bot activity).
  • /Communication: To send you platform updates, invoices (for paid members), or critical alerts.
  • /Marketing: With your consent, to send the "BakeryFind Brief" newsletter. You may opt out at any time in compliance with the Spam Act 2003 (Cth).
  • /AI Training: We use anonymised, aggregated data to train our internal AI models to improve search relevance and market intelligence reports.

4. Disclosure to Third Parties

We do not sell your personal data. We disclose data only in these limited circumstances:

  • /Service Providers: To trusted partners who assist in operating our website (e.g. Supabase for database hosting, Stripe for payments, Vercel for hosting). These partners are bound by confidentiality obligations.
  • /Legal Compliance: If required by law or to protect our rights and safety.
  • /Aggregated Data: We may share anonymised market insights (e.g. "Sourdough popularity trends in Surry Hills") with our business partners.

5. Cross-Border Disclosure

Some of our third-party service providers (such as Supabase and Stripe) may store data on servers located outside Australia (primarily in the United States). By providing your personal information, you consent to this transfer. We take reasonable steps to ensure these providers comply with privacy standards comparable to the APPs.

6. Data Security

We implement rigorous security measures, including encryption and secure server architecture (Row Level Security), to protect your data. However, no digital transmission is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Access and Correction

Under the Privacy Act 1988, you have the right to request access to the personal information we hold about you and to request corrections. You can manage most of your data directly via the Dashboard. For other requests, please contact us.

8. Cookies

We use cookies to maintain your session (keep you logged in) and analyse site traffic. You can control cookie preferences through your browser settings.
